Existing System Consulting
If you are acquiring a new property with an existing Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System or find that you are the owner of a Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System that is not functioning in accordance with the intent of the original design or current standards, Clean Vapor can work with you to assess your existing building's system. We will present you with an evaluation that outlines the condition of your present system and provide you with a plan to bring your current system into operational and code compliance.
In addition to managing the design and construction of mitigation systems throughout the country over the last twenty-five years, Tom Hatton has co-authored or contributed to several radon and vapor intrusion guidance documents, standards and construction codes. Having worked through complex code challenges ourselves to facilitate mitigation in existing buildings we are familiar with the difficulties that can arise. Having served on multiple committees, we often know what the intent of the authors was during the development of a particular code. This has helped our clients and code officials come to a common understanding. Our twenty-seven year participation in the evolution of the industry has us uniquely positioned to help provide clarification and solutions for a wide range of code related issues. Tom Hatton is available for code consulting on your project.
Unfortunately, we are in an increasingly litigious culture. It has been our experience that most radon and vapor intrusion law suits are rooted in one or both of the parties having an incomplete understanding of what their responsibilities are or were given the complex nature of soil gas intrusion and mitigation. We can provide technical clarity as well as a forensic review of a site as it relates to contaminant and construction conditions relevant to soil gas and radon intrusion. Having an honest discussion after the exposition of the facts has enabled us to assist in multiple settlements saving our clients significant sums. We have been providing attorney’s technical assistance in the resolution of these matters since 1988. For information on Tom Hatton's services as a Professional Witness please contact the office.
