Jim Smith has been promoted to Director of Operations for Clean Vapor, which will include direct oversight of human resources and corporate operations and risk management support.
Jim joined Clean Vapor in January of 2022 as the Human Resources Manager and has since grown the scope of his responsibilities to include a wide section of the company’s operational efforts. In addition to his 30-plus years of operational leadership, Jim is a 24-year United States Air Force veteran.
“I am very grateful for the opportunity Clean Vapor has presented, and I look forward to serving the company in my new role,” says Smith. “Clean Vapor is growing at a tremendous rate, and the next stage of growth will require additional efforts to make sure all of the people and equipment are all properly cared for; I am honored to be trusted with this responsibility.”
“Jim has quickly become an invaluable member of the Clean Vapor team,” says John Ballinger, COO. “Jim was initially selected as the Human Resources Manager, but his background in operations, continuous improvement, and safety created the opportunity for us to utilize his talents in a greater capacity to serve the company. He has made the most out of the opportunity that was presented to him, and we are glad to see him advance in the organization.”
Jim has nearly 20 years of manufacturing operations management experience, which aids in his understanding of the work Clean Vapor does for its clients. He has previously served as an EC-135 and KC-135 Navigator and Instructor Navigator in the USAF. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and a master’s degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Jim will serve the nationwide needs of Clean Vapor and its clients from the company’s Chattanooga office.
Jim and his wife, Anne, of 35 years have two daughters. When not working, Jim loves spending time with his dog, Sam, and riding his mountain bike on the numerous trails in the Chattanooga area.
